Man United still unsure about signing 29-year-old – report
Manchester United are not convinced about a move to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham this summer, say reports
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Red Devils scouts are not entirely convinced by the Belgium international and that they are still pursuing deals elsewhere.
However, the same story does say that the 29-year-old defender remains “an option” for the Red Devils as Jose Mourinho looks to try and bolster his options at the back ahead of next season.
The same article says that the asking price could end up being the major sticking point in any deal.
The story says that Manchester United value Alderweirled at around £20m less than Spurs’ valuation of around £70m.
And so it is being claimed that the Red Devils are now also looking further afield for a new defender this summer.
Manchester United have already completed two signings so far this summer after having wrapped up deals to bring both full-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred to Old Trafford.
Mourinho is aiming to build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season after the Red Devils finished second and without a trophy last term.
