FIFA PREDICTS CSKA MOSCOW VS MANCHESTER UNITED
Two teams with perfect records – albeit after one game – in Group A of the Champions League meet on September 27, with CSKA Moscow welcoming Manchester United to Russia.
The Red Devils surprised no one with the ease of their 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford, with goals from Marouane Fellaini, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku sealing the deal. Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, midfielder Paul Pogba will miss this match through injury, but otherwise he must be delighted with the start his side have made in 2016/17.
CSKA’s 2-1 win at Benfica was rather more surprising. The Portuguese outfit were expected to claim a straightforward enough victory over the Russians, but CSKA showed remarkable resolve to return home with all three points.
They went a goal down early in the second half through Haris Seferovic, but did they give up? Not a bit of it, with goals from Vitinho and Timur Zhamaletdinov sealing the win in a match in which they had just 29% possession of the ball.
The bookmakers will favour Manchester United here thanks to their expensively-assembled squad, but be under no illusions this CSKA Moscow outfit is a tough one to beat. So will United return home to England from Russia with love… and the win?
