Benfica have made £400m selling stars to top European clubs… here are the biggest deals
BENFICA have made an absolute fortune selling their players to top clubs around Europe in recent years.
Rivals Manchester United and Manchester City have both already swooped on Benfica this summer, bringing in centre-back Victor Lindelof and keeper Emerson respectively.
Between them, the Premier League heavyweights forked out £65m to the Primeira Liga team for their signatures.
Fans of the Estadio da Luz club are no strangers to seeing their best players leave each year for huge amounts of money.
In fact, the Portuguese side have brought in just under £400m in the past seven years by cashing in on their players.
However, they somehow always manage to bounce back after losing their biggest names.
