Brazil star for free
Manchester United are tracking a Brazil attacker who will soon be a free agent, according to the player’s agent. Lucas Badia represents Santos star Lucas Lima and spoke about his client’s future to Turkish newspaper Haberturk.
With Lima’s contract set to expire in January, it’s expected that he’ll be on the move. Unsurprisingly, Badia claims that there is a lot of interest. He named a few of Europe’s biggest clubs as Lima’s suitors.
He said: “Inter, Roma, and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Lucas, Manchester United want him.
“I think we would be well suited to the Serie A but we will see. His contract ends on 31 December and there are many clubs interested but I am not sure what Santos is trying to do. Crystal Palace made a €15 million offer while Fenerbahce made a €20 million bid but for some reason neither has been accepted.”
Barcelona deal
Earlier in the year, it was believed that Barcelona had agreed to a deal to sign Lima. Neymar, then still a Barcelona player, had convinced his compatriot to come to La Liga. Santos didn’t like this.
At this stage, Lima still had over six months left on his contract. Santos considered this tapping up and threatened to take legal action. There hasn’t been any news of a suit since but word of an agreement with Barcelona hushed.
United interest
Jose Mourinho was keen to sign a wide player in the summer with Ivan Perisic being a top target. He was unsuccessful in recruiting a player to play on the flanks but Lucas Lima could be his man.
Although he has mainly been played through the middle for Santos, Lima is known for his dribbling ability, his acceleration, and his repertoire for crossing. An Old Trafford move could be on the cards.
